We decided a long time ago that our kids could have birthday parties until they turned eight. And then they could have a big party on their twelfth and sixteenth birthdays. And that's it. (You might remember this little party post four years ago.) The Lady turned twelve last week. She has been looking forward to this party for years! She wanted to do something really great. We thought and thought about it. For weeks.
And then the road rally was born. It was awesome! Twelve costumed kids. Three teams. Three drivers. One van. One Jeep. One car. Six clues. Six destinations. Six competitive activities. Twenty-four cupcakes. Thirty-six pizza rolls. Two pots of soup. It all added up to lots of laughs.
There was a mummy race.
And pumpkin bowling.
And tromping through the cemetery.
We even dared to sneak into the public library.
Balloon stomping fun!
These kids can eat.
The three teams thought of team names and made team flags. They raced to be the first to solve the clues and get to their destinations. You won't believe it, but we had a tie!! One team came through the front door and the other team came through the side door at exactly the same time! The third team was only minutes behind. So much fun! Thanks to all of our extra help. Y'all are the best!

Wow! What an awesome party! I'm amazed at your creativity. That's a good idea to have "big" parties at 12 and 16--something really fun and outrageous. I love it.
What a great idea for a teen party!! It looks like everyone had a great time- Happy Birthday, I will miss her smiling face in primary :(
