Have you read this book?
It's a childhood classic. This used to be one of the Man's favorite books when he was just the Boy. I hate it when fiction becomes reality. Yeah.
Uh oh...the jeep won't go!
The Man found himself in a bit of an accident just before the Homecoming dance. All things considered, we came out of it up on top. It wasn't his fault. The automobile two cars in front didn't have brake lights and was turning right at an unexpected spot on a one lane road. The big truck behind him stopped just in the knick of time. The Man did not. Smash into big truck. Big truck survived with nary a scratch. The jeep was not so lucky. The brake-lightless driver drove off unaware (of course! grr) The bumper of the big truck did not really match up with the bumper of the little jeep. The bumper of the big truck pretty much smashed the entire front grill of the jeep, damaging a lot of those important parts inside. The big truck driver was really cool. He said that he bought the big truck for less than $500 and had no intention of making a claim on our insurance. No one was hurt. No citations were given. The policemen were not even summoned to the scene. The only real casualty was our poor jeep. (And maybe the emotional state of the Man's date-she had to be picked up from the scene by a friend and rushed home to get ready for the dance. Luckily boys only need a few minutes to spruce themselves up!)
But, thanks to one awesome Grandpa--our jeep is no longer in a heap. Our jeep will definitely not be for sale-CHEAP. Our jeep is practically back to its previous state. The bumper is a little less pretty, but definitely driveable.
Thanks Grandpa--you are the BEST!
