Renaissance Fair

I've missed a few things over the past weeks that I really wanted to and should have blogged about.  First up, is the Lady's Renaissance Fair.  The sixth graders at her school host a fair.  They have been learning about the Renaissance Period in history.  So, to wrap up their unit, and to make a few bucks for sixth grade graduation and all the festivities that go along with it, they host a fair.  Each student teams up with two or three others.  They design a booth out of PVC and cardboard.  They figure out something that they would like to sell, and they set-up shop in the cafeteria.  You can see that they get quite creative.  They had an armory and a fishery, games of chance, face painting, and lots of food booths just to name a few.  They are also required to dress in period clothes.   All of the younger students at the school pack their pockets with coins and "go to town" so to speak.  It makes for a really fun day, and they were able to raise a lot of money.  The Lady's group did a fantastic job.  They decided that they wanted to make a Sweete Shoppe.  Grandpa spent the morning with them at school creating their booth.  Bless his heart and thank you!  It turned out super cute!  They sold old fashioned candy and cupcakes and cookies and brownies and all things sweet.  The fair took place on Good Friday.  I was able to find these darling sugar eggs--the kind you peek into and there's a little spring scene with bunnies and chicks.  Anyway, I found some for literally pennies.  She sold them each for a quarter.  We bought a whole case and they sold like hotcakes.  Way to go girls!
