Whistlers Mother

On the way to school this morning, Lucie kept singing this little ditty.  "Whoooo, whoooo"  It was beautiful.  I asked her what she was doing.  "I whistling Mama!"

Oh, of course.  My little songbird.

It brought to mind a memory of the Man when he was little.  He couldn't whistle yet, so he would just say (in a high pitched voice) "Reeee-roooo".  Can't you just hear it?  He was so envious of kids that could put their thumb and finger in their mouth and really let it rip.  When it comes to whistling, he's more of a pragmatist.  He found his "ree-roo" particularly useful when he was trying to get your attention.  Like when you were deep in discussion with another adult or half-way across the  yard.

Whistles are so versatile.
