Well, it's hard to believe. Our nest is now empty. Mr and Mrs Bird are apparently very demanding parents. It was nary a week since those little eggs cracked open before they pushed those birds out of the nest and out on their own. Does that seem a little soon to you? I guess they wanted to boast that their nestlings learned to fly before all of the other neighborhood birds. They were just going on instinct, but their haste cost them the life of one of their own. We named the poor little guy "Humpty Dumpty" and boy, did he have a great fall! We are all still very sad around here. It seems so pointless. He just needed another day or two and a few more feathers.
I think there is a great lesson on parenting here somewhere.
