one last appeal

There is an old tradition in Northern China that adoptive families have kind of embraced. It is the tradition of the Bai Jia Bei or One Hundred Good Wishes Quilt. When a new child is born, family and friends give the parents a piece of fabric, generally from clothing they've worn. The “one hundred” pieces of fabric (wishes) are sewn together to create a beautiful quilt. The quilt symbolizes wrapping the child in good wishes and the energy of the people surrounding the child. Parents adopting from China have taken on this tradition by creating One Hundred Good Wishes quilts for their children. With each fabric piece that is given to the new parents, a wish for the child is also sent, written on paper so that the child will always know the wishes made just for them. Some of you have already sent beautiful wishes and fabric squares--thank you so much! I am about 20 squares short of 100. Hence, my appeal. If any of you would like to send a square it would be much appreciated. Contact me if you don't know where to send it. The squares can be cut out of any fabric that you wish or that you have on hand. The squares measure 7 inches by 7 inches. Then cut a small swatch of the same fabric and attach it to a card with your wish on it. Sign your name and that's all you need to do! The time is fast approaching (actually it's here) for me to sew this beautiful quilt together. I would really appreciate any last minute help that you can give!
