High School Shenanigans

They have this crazy tradition in our corner of the world.  You can't just ask someone to a high school dance, say on the phone or even in person.  You have to come up with some crazy puzzle or game or some such creative thing.  It has to be anonymous, left stealthily on the doorstep.  And then the recipient of this request has to come up with some equally crazy creative way to answer back "yes" or "no".

Well, as you may remember, The Man was asked to Preference last week.  Preference is a girl's choice dance at the high school, that is coming up in a few weeks.  It was his birthday.  We were winding down for the evening, watching his favorite show, when we heard a knock at the door.  We opened it to find the most beautiful birthday cake.  It looked delicious.  It smelled delicious.  And there was a cute little poem piped with frosting around the edges asking him to the dance.  He was so excited to cut into it and figure out who was asking him to the dance.  He grabbed a knife and expected it to slice through the cake like butter.  Instead he discovered that it wasn't a cake at all.  It was a beautifully iced---phone book!  (Her name was cleverly hid inside)  Oh the deception!  And oh the disappointment!

Well, that kind of invitation deserves this kind of acceptance, don't you think?

Doesn't it look delicious?  A work of art!  And a great use of the left-over Thanksgiving mashed potatoes!

You gave away the leftover potatoes? But leftovers are so yummy!

Remember that year ALL the leftovers gotten stolen off the side porch? Such a disappointment.

Hope he has fun at the dance!
